Jay Long’s Timeless Chatter Between the Heart and Mind

Poetry, as it’s defined in the modern dictionary, is a literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm.

The definition is pretty accurate.

The written word when by itself is simple, and sometimes holds no meaning whatsoever, but when certain words are grouped together, it can be magical. The beauty of poetry is for every reader, the meaning may be completely different. Poetry, more so than other forms of writing, allows the reader to escape, to relate their own experiences to the words the writer has bled onto the page.

It seems as if poets have taken over many of the writing communities and with good reason. Some of the writing today is simply outstanding.
